This is a senior, hands on Applications Engineer role for a US start-up that is setting up its first applications and contract manufacturing site.
About the Role
The role sits between additive manufacturing, machining, and customer support. The person hired will help build the operation from the ground up. It is not a junior role, not a pure machinist role, and not a sales role. It suits someone who likes ownership and variety.
Responsibilities
- Running DED prints
- Conventional machining experience
- Setting up the applications lab
- Developing and improving processes
- Handling materials, inspection, metrology, and basic quality checks
- Talking with customers about feasibility and applications
- Supporting trade shows a few weeks per year
- Occasional onsite customer support
- Assisting with machine installs led by the German team
At the start, this person will be the only technical hire on site and will set standards for future hires.
Required Skills
- Strong general manufacturing experience
- Hands on experience in machining environments
- Exposure to milling, CNC, inspection, microscopes, Faro arms, or sensors
- Comfort measuring parts, fixing problems, and working on the shop floor
Preferred Skills
- DED or metal additive experience is a strong plus but not required.
