Senior Mechanical Engineer (Machine Design)

💰 $95,000–$110,000 + Benefits + Bonus

We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of advanced CNC grinding machinery serving aerospace, defense, and heavy industry customers.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex machine design projects, working on high-precision CNC equipment from concept through to commissioning. You’ll play a key role in driving innovation, improving machine performance, and supporting the next generation of grinding technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems for advanced CNC grinding machines
• Engineer components including spindles, bearings, linear guides, dressers, and machine structures
• Improve machine performance through enhanced vibration control, thermal stability, and tooling optimisation
• Utilise SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and FEA tools to develop and validate designs
• Support prototyping, assembly, testing, and commissioning activities
• Collaborate with electrical and applications engineering teams
• Mentor junior engineers and review engineering designs
• Provide technical support throughout machine build and installation phases
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing costs

Requirements

• 5+ years of mechanical machine design experience
• Experience designing CNC machinery or other high-precision equipment
• Strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience
• Knowledge of FEA and engineering analysis tools
• Understanding of design for manufacturability principles
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills

Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• CNC grinding machine experience
• Background in machine tool or precision equipment design
