Senior Mechanical Engineer (Machine Design)

💰 $95,000–$110,000 + Benefits + Bonus

We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of advanced CNC grinding machinery serving aerospace, defense, and heavy industry customers.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex machine design projects, working on high-precision CNC equipment from concept through to commissioning. You’ll play a key role in driving innovation, improving machine performance, and supporting the next generation of grinding technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems for advanced CNC grinding machines
- Engineer components including spindles, bearings, linear guides, dressers, and machine structures
- Improve machine performance through enhanced vibration control, thermal stability, and tooling optimisation
- Utilise SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and FEA tools to develop and validate designs
- Support prototyping, assembly, testing, and commissioning activities
- Collaborate with electrical and applications engineering teams
- Mentor junior engineers and review engineering designs
- Provide technical support throughout machine build and installation phases
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing costs
Requirements
- 5+ years of mechanical machine design experience
- Experience designing CNC machinery or other high-precision equipment
- Strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience
- Knowledge of FEA and engineering analysis tools
- Understanding of design for manufacturability principles
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- CNC grinding machine experience
- Background in machine tool or precision equipment design
