    Kensington started in 2006, when our founder, Phillip Hodson, decided to build a recruitment business that spoke the same language as the people it served, the language of engineers.

     

    From the very beginning, our ethos was simple but powerful:

    “Engineers recruiting engineers.”

    It was more than a slogan. It was our DNA.

    We understood the challenges, the precision, and the pride that define the world of engineering and manufacturing. We knew that great recruitment was about building teams that innovate, create, and transform industries.

    Our commitment to quality has always set us apart. It is the foundation of everything that we do.

    We became the first recruitment business in the North West to achieve REC accreditation. We earned awards for recruitment excellence. And today, most of our consultants are Certified Recruitment Practitioners, trained and accredited in employment law and best practice.

    That dedication to excellence reflects the same craftsmanship and attention to detail found in the manufacturers and engineers we represent.

     

    Leading a New Frontier

     

    In 2014, we saw the potential of a new era in manufacturing, and we chose to be at its forefront.

    Additive manufacturing (3D printing) was starting to reshape how the world thought about production. Where others saw a niche, we saw a revolution.

    We became the first recruitment business in the world to specialise in additive manufacturing. And so, Kensington Additive was born.

    Over the next decade, we grew into a trusted partner for businesses across the UK, Europe, and the USA, helping to build the teams driving innovation at the very heart of this new industrial age.

    Our insight, community, and credibility helped us become a global leader, with a 35,000-strong LinkedIn following and an unmatched network in the 3D printing and advanced manufacturing world.

    But as the industry evolved, so did we.

    Our clients’ needs were changing. Additive manufacturing was no longer a stand-alone innovation, it had become part of a wider ecosystem of robotics, automation, med-tech, machine tools, and digital manufacturing.

    We realised that to truly serve the future of manufacturing, we needed to see the whole picture. To think broader. To recruit not just for one niche, but across the full landscape of Industry 4.0, and soon, Industry 5.0.

    Now, as we approach our 20th anniversary, we’re proud to reveal our next evolution:

    This rebrand isn’t just a new name, it’s a reflection of our journey and our future.
