Join a well-established, quality-led dental laboratory in Glasgow, known for producing high-standard restorations and embracing modern digital workflows, as Laboratory Leader – Dental.

The business is entering an exciting phase of operational improvement and growth and is looking for a hands-on leader to help drive performance and consistency.

CORE FOCUS OF THE ROLE

As Laboratory Leader, you’ll take overall responsibility for day-to-day site operations, leading a skilled team and ensuring the lab delivers on quality, turnaround time, customer service, and commercial targets. This is a leadership role that blends people management with operational execution ideal for someone who enjoys being present on the floor and improving how things run.

WHY APPLY?

  • A chance to lead a respected lab with a strong reputation for quality
  • High impact role with autonomy to improve operations and performance
  • A business investing in better structure, workflow, and growth

DAY-TO-DAY OF THE ROLE

  • Operational Leadership: Own the day-to-day running of the lab, ensuring production is planned and delivered efficiently.
  • Performance & Delivery: Drive KPIs across quality, turnaround times, remakes, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the team; build a culture of accountability, pride in quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and implement practical process improvements across workflows (digital + traditional).
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure robust QA procedures, traceability, and adherence to relevant standards and H&S requirements.
  • Commercial Mindset: Work with senior leadership to support growth plans, capacity planning, and profitability through smarter operations.
  • Customer Focus: Support service excellence—handling escalations where needed and ensuring consistent output quality.
  • Resource Planning: Oversee scheduling, workload balancing, and staffing needs to meet demand reliably.

SKILLS YOU NEED

Essential

  • Proven experience leading operations or production within a dental laboratory or comparable technical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong people leadership: confident in performance management, coaching, and team engagement.
  • Operationally sharp: planning, prioritisation, workflow control, and problem-solving under pressure.
  • High standards and a quality-first mindset; comfortable working to defined processes and improving them.
  • Confident communicator who can liaise effectively across teams and stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience in digital dental workflows (e.g., CAD/CAM operations, scanning, milling, 3D printing workflows).
  • Lean / continuous improvement exposure (5S, SOP development, process mapping, KPI management).
  • Budget awareness and experience supporting commercial/operational targets.
