Hello and welcome back,
It’s been a busy few weeks here at Kensington360, so we’ve got plenty to get through this month.
Inside, we’re catching up on a certain holiday we’re a bit late to (you’ll see what we mean), digging into what’s shifting in medtech and additive manufacturing, and getting ready for IMTS in Chicago this September. There’s also a brand new report fresh off the press, a stack of live roles across every sector we work in, and a look at what’s coming up next.
Grab a coffee, settle in, and let’s get into it.

Better Late Than Never: Happy 4th of July!
Okay, we know. It’s not exactly July anymore. Some of you may have already moved on to pumpkin spice season in your heads. But we said this on LinkedIn a while back and figured our newsletter crowd deserved the same love, so here goes: happy belated 4th of July from all of us at Kensington360! We hope you all had good one. Barbecue, fireworks, questionable amounts of potato salad, all of it.
Anyway, enough nostalgia. Here’s what’s happened this month…

Metal’s Got Competition: What PEEK Means for Medtech Hiring
This insight comes from William Hollis, Head of Medtech Recruitment US here at Kensington360, on what the shift toward PEEK means for medtech hiring.
His argument: switching materials changes the process, and that changes the capability a team needs, often faster than the job titles catch up. A generic Materials Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer search can miss the real gap, especially when the expertise needed spans polymers, surface technology and validation.
William’s takeaway, and ours: stop screening CVs for the right company logo, and start looking for candidates who’ve actually solved this problem before, wherever they solved it.

Made in America, Meet Additive
Jordan Allen, one of our Additive Experts, breaks down how Made in America policy is reshaping additive manufacturing, and it’s not about printing everything domestically. It’s defence funding and programmes like AM Forward pushing investment into powders, qualification and inspection, the less visible parts of the chain.
The hiring impact: businesses are still posting for “Additive Manufacturing Engineer” when they actually need someone who’s qualified an LPBF process for a defence customer. Old job titles, new capability gap.

Chicago, get ready. Next month the Kensington360 team is packing our bags for IMTS, the International Manufacturing Technology Show, and we genuinely cannot wait.
From September 14th to 19th, you’ll find Jordan Allen, James Field and Mark Ainscough on the ground, talking hiring needs, career moves, and where Industry 4.0 is headed next.

What to Expect on the Show Floor
Ahead of the show, we put together a piece on the trends we reckon will dominate IMTS this year, worth a read before you plan your route around the halls.
Machine tool investment is climbing fast, additive is finally being judged on production performance rather than adoption, and metallurgy is quietly becoming one of the most strategic parts of the room. MedTech is facing a higher technical bar too, robotics orders are surging, and industrial AI has earned its own dedicated arena this year. None of it works without the right people behind it, which is exactly what we’ll be there to talk about.

Coming Up Next Month
We’ll be fresh off the show floor at IMTS, so expect a proper debrief on what we saw, who we met, and what it means for hiring across the sector. There’s a good chance we’ll have some news of our own to share too, so keep an eye out. Alongside all that, plenty more jobs, updates and market insight on the way as always.
